"How does one come up with the idea of staying at Mediko and Suliko with a 9-month-old daughter?" After two evenings at the couple's guesthouse in Kutaisi, we can understand this question, which our neighbor surprised us with . Our hostess Mediko serves a great dinner with a flowing house wine - all inclusive! Her husband Suliko introduces us to the Georgian drinking traditions: traditionally, drinks are consumed from cow and ram horns - every time before drinking, a toast must be made - with each spoken toast, the vessel must be full and completely emptied. This quickly creates a lively atmosphere! In addition, Suliko has a few tricks up his sleeve: he shows how to drink from two glasses at the same time with one hand or how to tilt the full glass from the forehead towards the mouth. No wonder this guesthouse is mainly frequented by celebrating school graduates. However, there are also some Japanese or South Koreans who end up here, as well as us. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed this moist and cheerful start to our trip to Georgia. Unlike most of the other guests at the guesthouse, we didn't oversleep the days, but visited some sights in the region.
