Rio & Itamambuca - Gattiproofed 😎

Publié: 13.08.2023

💥 1 month later: Here we are again 💥,

after our 2-day journey: oily skin, decent airplane food, little sleep, lots of stress and smelly clothes. We made it 👐🏼, after 6 months of isolation in Australia, we have arrived in the land of football, cheap and strong Caipirinhas, and body culture - 🇧🇷Brazil-.

Rio has been an excellent first stop on our tropical and lively journey, and what can we say. We were greeted in true Rio style - first our beach bag was stolen -.🦎

Gringos 0:1 Rio! We experienced significant losses at the start of our journey: water bottle, Yahtzee (Kniffel) ... the pain is greater than expected, as no one plays Yahtzee in all of Rio (we are now playing with a slightly foul-smelling coconut – sounds better than a plastic cup)

The bustling, colorful Rio has come to an end, and our path leads us down the southeast coast of Brazil to the coastal metropolis of Florianopolis. Our first stop after Rio was Paraty (pronounced Paratschie), a colonial town founded in the 16th century.

The beaches that we could reach on foot from there were rather mediocre, but there are boat tours to dreamy beaches in nearby coves and of course to Ilha Grande. However, we skipped these tours as we were not interested in being crammed onto a boat with 25 other gringos to explore the beaches there.

Nevertheless, it is possible to enjoy the place on its own, especially the city center. There are very well-preserved and authentically renovated colonial houses and really nice restaurants, although we are more street food tourists.

From Paraty, our journey led us to Itamambuca.🌈🌿 We were looking for a small coastal town with character and it took us quite a while to find a new place. Traveling may be beautiful, but we are also a bit clueless (Peanut where are you🥜). But well, if things had gone according to plan, we would currently be somewhere in Manaus, doing an expensive jungle tour (which we will do in Peru or Bolivia because it is a bit cheaper and only costs 500 instead of a thousand).^^💡)

Well, Itamambuca, what can we say... first of all, it is definitely nicer than the nearest town, Ubatuba, which may be familiar to surfers. It is advertised as the surfing capital of Brazil.🌊

We have been living at Sintonia Hostel for 8 days now, just hanging out (as the only foreigners around for a change)🧘🏼‍♀️, occasionally grabbing a surfboard🏄🏼 (hustle beginner board hustle), and enjoying the beaches, sun, and spectacular wildlife - Gecko vs. cricket, wasp vs. Brazilian wandering spider -. (Video will follow on Leo's Instagram account)

What else is there to say: Brazil is highly recommended in winter, but the distances between everything should not be underestimated, which we definitely did - next stop Sao Paulo.

👀stay tuned folks, great things are coming soon
