To prepare ourselves for the weekend in the Bay of Fires, we went shopping in St Helens in the morning. Food, water, beer & wine (which you have to buy in special bottle shops here), firewood, ... everything you need. We had breakfast at a cafe outside.
In the late morning, we found a beautifully located camping spot at Cosy Corner South. On a small hill, directly above the beach, only 30 meters from the sea. There are 4 free campgrounds in the Bay, but there is nothing on them except a spot for the camper, not even water.
The special thing about the Bay of Fires are the white beaches alternating with fire-red lichen-covered rocks. It looks fantastic!
First, we explore our immediate surroundings on foot and then take a refreshing swim later. The water is warmer than expected and the turquoise color is so inviting.
