At the Oriente bus station in Lisbon, we arrived on time so that I could buy 2 packs of Nespresso pods for the Nespresso machine in the cabin at the shopping center. After we fortified ourselves with a cappuccino at Starbucks, I took a taxi from the taxi stand to Starbucks. We had heavy suitcases with us. We drove to the airport quickly for 6 EUR. We could have also taken the metro, but it was too inconvenient with the luggage. It would have only been 2 stations, but Oriente station is very big and confusing.
We arrived at the airport very early and had to ask the airport staff where Emirates opens its counters. It wasn't displayed anywhere.
To board the ship, negative PCR tests were still required. We wanted to do this at Lisbon Airport. I had previously bought test kits from the local pharmacy. Through www.testifly.de, I had already purchased the tests for 10 EUR each. The normal test in Lagos would have cost over 80 EUR. First it was Wolfgang's turn, but I made a mistake, so it didn't work. While I was doing the test for myself with video recording correctly, Wolfgang went down to a test station at the airport. It only cost 10 EUR and was very fast.
The check-in counters opened 2 hours before departure. Fortunately, we were in line early and could still walk around the terminal a bit. I then bought small Pastel de Natas for the Emirates staff.
The boarding at 20:45 was unfortunately delayed by 90 minutes, which we spent in front of the boarding counter without any further information from the airlines.
The Boeing 777 was fully booked. Many Indians were on board, who are employed in Portugal and flew to their home country for 3 months over New Year's. A young Indian next to us explained this, he had worked in Berlin for some time and spoke some German.
The seats were very narrow, sleep was not possible. Since we had already ordered the vegetarian meals in advance, we were the first to receive our menu. It was plentiful and delicious. The entertainment program was not so spectacular this time.
