Dogwalk in Palomino (Colombia)

Publié: 06.02.2019

I write my next article in English for once because it's about a dog picnic on the beach that I did with Palominoanimal soul, so that the two founders of palominoanimalsoul, Karina and Alejandro, can read it:

It all started when I found a flyer at my hostel that said 'for dog lovers' and I knew I had to participate. It began in the morning on the beach, where I met Karina, Alejandro, and six dogs from their shelter. They actually have 13 dogs and 8 cats in their shelter, and I think that when they find an injured cat or dog, they try to take them in, help them, and buy medicine for them. I think this is such a great and meaningful thing, so I was sooo happy to spend time with them and the dogs. They were all so cute that I couldn't decide which one I liked the most. After cuddling with the dogs, we walked along the beach for 3 km until we reached a beautiful river. There, we had a vegetarian picnic together with the dogs. We ate fruits and sandwiches and had some coffee. It was amazing to see how trusting and friendly the dogs were. They weren't afraid of us, so we could cuddle and pet them all the time :-) and they even took a bath in the river.

On our way back, we picked up plastic from the beach to keep it clean and help protect the environment from being filled with plastic. I thought this is something we should do more often on our vacations. I am truly thankful to Karina and Alejandro for this amazing experience, and I am so happy that they help these animals. Palominoanimalsouls should exist everywhere, not just in Palomino. And I can highly recommend everyone who goes to Palomino to do the dogwalk with them. There are so many dogs living on the streets without a home in all the countries I have traveled to in the past 8 weeks. It's hot outside, and they need fresh water, food, and sometimes medical assistance. It's good to know that there are these amazing people who help them and give these dogs a home. Thank you, Karina and Alejandro :-)
