From Avignon for an overnight stay with our small tent in the Serra d'Irta National Park, a day trip with lots of traffic through southern France over the Spanish border. Past the Ebro estuary, but still before Valencia.
On the second day (Sunday, April 27th), we continue to San Jose in the Cabo de Gata National Park.
Unfortunately, we were tricked at a rest area on the highway.
Both of Uschi's backpacks were stolen from the car while we were standing next to it. Both passports, her wallet, driver's license, phone, ATM card, her camera, and quite a bit of clothing.
After 1 hour, the police arrived; they mentioned many scammer gangs operating in the Barcelona-Valencia area. Also about robbery, not just theft.
We finally arrive well in San Jose, the campsite is small and cozy. The town is somewhat touristy and full of vacant holiday apartments. However, the surroundings are fantastic, the coast and the nature park area are beautiful.
The 'rest of' Almeria's surroundings are full of plastic greenhouses, desolate.
In the mountains, however, desert-like conditions; many Karl May films (wild Kurdistan), Italo-Western (For a Fistful of Dollars), and also Game of Thrones and The Crown were filmed here.
Since Avignon, our constant companion: strong winds. As rain is also forecasted inland, we are now heading further towards Malaga.
