The alarm clock went off as usual at 6:00 a.m. Packed our things and off we went on our way to the Grand Canyon, first to Horseshoe Bend. After a one kilometer hike, we reached the point where the Colorado River carves its way through the rock in a horseshoe-shaped loop. From 300 meters above, we looked down on the river. Despite the early hour, around 9:30 a.m., it was already scorching hot - 40°C. However, the view compensated for the effort. Plus, we would never have encountered the Asian beekeepers otherwise. Probably to avoid getting a tan, some Asians were dressed in gloves and beekeeper hats with a face net. Long pants and long-sleeved tops completed their respective masterpieces. You can do it, but you certainly don't have to...

After Horseshoe Bend, which was only 10 minutes away from our accommodation in Page by car, we continued to the Grand Canyon. The two-hour car ride went smoothly, so that we could head to the first viewpoint of the Grand Canyon around noon. The further we advanced into the national park, the more impressive the view became. We used one of our many stops for a small salad picnic. Finally, in the dark, we reached our accommodation in Grand Canyon Village. But before we could make ourselves comfortable in our accommodation, we ran into a drunk American woman. Ashley, that was her name, was staying at the Maswick Lodge with her husband and 3 children. Unfortunately, she couldn't find her way back to her lodge. She also couldn't remember her room number. After a little over an hour, we were able to deliver the only partially cooperative Ashley to her family...
