Even before our trip to New Zealand, we planned to vacation on the Fiji Islands. On Saturday, 16 November, the time had come and the vacation began.
From Dunedin, we flew to Christchurch and from there to Nadi. In total, we were on the road for about 7 hours and had a flight time of 4 hours. When we arrived in Nadi, our transfer to the first hotel was already waiting. After a one-hour drive, we arrived at the idyllic Yatule Resort and Spa on the beach. Our accommodation there was a bungalow with one bedroom and one bathroom, and our view from the terrace was directly on the pool. The next day, we spent the whole day at the beach and by the pool, thoroughly enjoying the first day of our vacation. Monday afternoon, we continued to the island of Malolo Lai Lai. Here too, we had a transfer to the port and from there we took a ship to the small island.
When we arrived at Malolo Lai Lai, we immediately felt like we were in paradise - turquoise blue water as far as the eye could see, white sandy beach, and lots of palm trees. We stayed at the Muscet Cove Resort. Here too, our accommodation was a bungalow, where we had plenty of space. It was not far from our bungalow to the pool, where the main restaurant was located, and to the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Malolo Lai Lai and mainly relaxed at the beach and pool. But we also took advantage of various offers from the resort and rented a kayak, joined a snorkeling tour, and tried stand-up paddling. During the snorkeling tour, we took a small boat to the other side of the island and had time to explore the underwater landscape. It was simply fantastic - we saw so many different fish, and our highlight was the starfish. Before trying stand-up paddling, we had some respect for it, as it often looks easier than it is, but once we found our balance, it worked very well. We liked the time on the small island the most, and every day we were impressed by the beautiful landscape.
On Thursday, 21 November, we returned to the main island of Denarau by ship. Our last hotel was the Radisson Blue in Denarau. Here we had a small apartment with a kitchenette, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and balcony. When we arrived, it started raining, but it was still warm. The rain passed very quickly, and then we took advantage of the good weather at the pool. We spent our last day sunbathing and swimming at the pool and soaked up a lot of sun.
During our vacation in Fiji, except for one night and about 1 hour a day, we had no rain. November is a very good time to vacation in Fiji. It was around 30 degrees Celsius every day, and the sun is very strong, so cooling off in the water was very refreshing.
The combination of the 3 hotels was perfect for us. The landscape on the small islands is even more beautiful than on the main island, and it is worth the one-hour drive to the small island.
