9. Monatsrückblick

Meanwhile, May is over (what a brilliant rhyme), and with it 100% university, because my last exam was on May 2nd.

Unfortunately, I don't have my results yet, but I'm pretty sure that I passed everything and the grades are unimportant because I won't or can't have them credited anyway.

By the way, I have since applied for the Master's in Conference Interpreting and was accepted, which is why I will be studying for my Bachelor's and Master's degrees simultaneously from winter semester 24/25. I'm excited to see how that goes.

I somehow did so much this month and it just flew by. I celebrated my birthday, lived underwater for a week, went on a few hikes and visited Madagascar again. Because I had so little regular routine this month, I feel like I'm not using the time well to enjoy the island. That's actually totally illogical, because diving is also a way to benefit from the island, but somehow it feels a bit wrong not to do something new every day to get the most out of it.

In general, my time here is slowly coming to an end and I'm starting to get a little scared of missing the boat, I don't know. I'm looking forward to Germany, but somehow I have the feeling that I still want to do so much here (even though there isn't that much left and I still have 70 days (-22 when my mom is here, but I'll probably do more then than I would otherwise :D)

The island has simply become such a home that it is difficult to imagine yourself away from it.

The only thing I'm not so happy with at the moment is the shared apartment. Lili and Alexis are nice, but we're not really on the same wavelength. And it's a bit weird having a separated couple as roommates :D But they're both leaving now anyway, so it's not really a problem anymore.

Unfortunately, I'm not getting along with Léa at the moment either. Our personalities just don't fit together and everything she does could drive me crazy. But I'm trying to make the best of the situation. And there are moments when we get on well, so it's not that bad.

While I was in Madagascar, a lot of Erasmus people flew home again, but this time it doesn't affect me so much because I wasn't particularly close to anyone. And I'm already planning to meet up in Germany with the one really good Erasmus friend I found. In two weeks, the second to last person from the first semester, who I really took to heart, will also fly home, and in July the last survivor :D

What I'm most afraid of is the moment when Nanou is no longer in the shared flat, but I'll just wait and see. I already have plans to see her again :)

OK, that's enough of the fear-mongering, because May was actually really great. What's to come will come, but the current moment is really good and I'm happy with the situation (except for the shared apartment, but the other roommates really make up for that <3)

I'm actually quite happy with my French now, but I can't seem to get rid of my German accent. But maybe that will come at some point, who knows.

I'm excited to see what June brings, after all it's my last month "all alone" here on the island :)
