Day 2 in New York (05.10.2016)

Publicado: 07.10.2016

We wake up relatively late, start our second day at 10:30 am local time, and head towards the 42nd Street subway station to go to Grand Central Terminal, which we visit and especially marvel at the Apple Store on one of the mezzanines. Well, we accept it and from up there we look at the grand hall and the hustle and bustle of the people. We leave the terminal and take a look at the beautiful building from the outside.

Now we make our way to the Public Library of New York and enjoy the view of the building through the canyon of buildings. Once we arrive at the building, we take a few steps up to the main entrance and after the usual bag check, we visit the books and study rooms. We decide to take a short break here, sit down, and plan our next steps in peace.

We decide to take the subway to Rockefeller Center and buy the tickets for our "Top of the Rock Tour" on Friday. Since we can't decide whether we want to enjoy the view during the day or at night, we choose the Sun&Stars ticket for $47 per person, which allows us to visit the platform twice within 24 hours.

Then we walk to Times Square with the plan to queue up for discounted tickets for Broadway shows (the tickets are offered at half price from 2 pm for the evening performance of the same day). However, the line is so long that we decide to grab something to eat first. We choose the Hard Rock Cafe and receive very good service and a decent lunch. However, the prices here are very high, which is understandable due to the location, but everyone should be aware of it before eating here.

After filling our stomachs and paying the bill with a sigh, we queue up again and surprisingly, the line is so short that we get in after just 5 minutes. However, the half-price tickets for our first choice, the musical "Something Rotten," are already sold out, so we decide to go for the show "Oh Hello Broadway," which in hindsight may not have been the best decision. This show is indeed very funny, but it is also filled with a lot of insider jokes that we only understand half of, so we cannot fully recommend this show. But if you think you know the Broadway scene and American news, you should definitely see it, as the entire audience can barely stay in their seats from laughter throughout the performance.

For us, this show was not quite a satisfying end to the day, and we take the subway to Stephen and Gustavo's apartment.
