Bed and Mix

Today we wanted to reach one of our intermediate destinations. Lit-et-Mixe, a surfer's paradise on the Atlantic coast, was to be our home for a few days. We had already tried unsuccessfully to reserve a spot at the campsite several days ago and were now hoping for one of the unbookable transit pitches.

Therefore, we had already decided yesterday to move our morning routine forward by two hours to have the best possible chance of getting a spot.

After a restless night, in which it felt like people were arriving and departing from the parking lot every hour, we started our next leg through Nouvelle-Aquitaine earlier than usual, while in the camper van next door Scooby-Doo was still watching over the sleep of his passengers.

We passed through some areas where there had recently been fires; the traces were unmistakable.

After a two-hour drive, we reached our destination and… we were lucky. Yippee!

Here at the campsite at Cap de l'Homy, we booked for four days with the option to extend. We wanted to take surfing lessons, and besides, it was time to get our "normal" bed working again. Since mid-July, we'd been sleeping on the sofa ( https://vakantio.de/ueberall-und-nirgends/hubbettgasdruckfeder ), which was okay, but it meant the seating area in the living room was permanently blocked, and the bed in the cab remained unused. We'd already sent the replacement springs to Sebb's family; now it was time to forward them to France so they could finally be installed.

On our first walk by the sea, we finally saw the waves we had been looking forward to all along.

However, throughout the afternoon there was nothing but rain, rain, rain, and that was also the forecast for the following day.

So what could we do?

We unpacked our games and first fought our way through dungeons, and then we tried to defeat the pandemics. It took several rounds.

Later, when we walked to the surf school in the rain to book our course, the owners were in the process of canceling the afternoon course due to a thunderstorm and scheduling all the participants for the following day. There were no more slots available for us on Friday, but that suited us just fine, as the weather was supposed to be better on Saturday. The only downside was that the course started surprisingly early at 8:30 a.m. But there was nothing we could do about it; tides are tides.

For dinner, we had the best 'dinner in the world' for the first time in days: pasta with tomato sauce, garlic and fried bacon.
