On Monday, Ben was working again and Luisa and I had a nice morning together. In the afternoon, I had to work. During that time, Luisa met with Flizzi and they spent the day in the whirlpool.
On Tuesday, I had the whole day off. So Luisa and I took a long walk along the Yarra River. Afterwards, we went to the city center and did some shopping. In the evening, we met Karen in Maribyrnong and had dinner together. Luisa had always raved about the burger shop St. Burgers. They don't serve their burgers with buns, but instead with donuts, which is a sweet and savory combination. We decided to try them. The photos look delicious, but it's worth noting that the burgers are small because of the small donuts. The sweet and savory combination tastes really good though. Maribyrnong is located at the other end of the city and offers a direct view of Melbourne's skyline. Karen, Luisa, and I tried our best to capture the unique view, but none of us succeeded. So we just enjoyed it. The weather was really bad that day. It was pouring rain. When we got back home to Armadale, we had to warm up. Ben was working that day and missed out on the delicious burgers. But he had a burger at Baths instead.
On Wednesday, Ben's and my work was canceled because the weather was really bad and there wasn't much to do in Brighton. But that was okay. We enjoyed Luisa's last day in Australia even more because of it. In the morning, we did the usual household chores and Luisa started packing. We also built a bike light, which turned out to be very professional. Luisa had received a flashlight as a gift on her trip. We mounted it on my helmet. After a few errands in Armadale, Karen came to visit us. The four of us played a few rounds of Yahtzee and had some Tim Tams. Karen had never tried them before, so it was about time. In the evening, we all cooked a curry rice dish. Our accommodation has a very large DVD collection and a TV with four bass speakers. We used them afterwards. The girls enjoyed a nice movie with that unique cinema atmosphere in our living room. Ben wasn't happy with the movie selection, so he watched something else in the bedroom. After we took Karen back to the train station, I spent the rest of the evening chatting with Luisa. We really enjoyed our last evening together and it was a beautiful end for Luisa. Luisa was thrilled that Ben and I were off work and could spend the day with her.
In general, it was really nice that we could spend about two weeks together in Australia. We appreciate our shared happiness and truly enjoyed every single day. Together, we experienced and saw a lot, which will probably always be remembered.
On Thursday, the big farewell came. Luisa had requested pancakes for breakfast, which we all enjoyed together. After that, we said our goodbyes with tears because I had to go to work. Ben took Luisa to the train station. By the way, Melbourne had some noble visitors that Thursday. Meghan and Harry visited Melbourne, which is why Luisa left a little earlier. She had to travel through the whole city. At that time, Meghan and Harry were also in the city. But none of us saw them. Meghan and Harry's visit was also a topic of conversation at work. One of the employees received many photos from his mother, who had seen them up close. We all looked at them and then I went home. It felt very strange to come home without seeing Luisa. Ben had spent his day off cleaning the apartment. When we both lay in bed, we almost simultaneously realized how empty the apartment was without Luisa.
On Friday, we thought about the remaining time in Australia. Just before I went to work again, I received a message from Luisa saying that she had safely arrived in Germany and was received by Mom and Tim in Frankfurt. Ben spent his day off running errands and planning the rest of our time in Australia. When I got home from work, we just went to bed.
On Saturday, I relaxed.
On Sunday, I had to work. On the way to work in the morning, I had a small bike accident. A lady accidentally didn't look in the rearview mirror and just opened her door. So there I was, lying on the street. But luckily, there were only a few bumps and bruises + holes in my favorite backpack. I got lucky. I went straight to work afterwards.
