20.8. - Hamburg - Day 1

Publicado: 23.08.2019

The Elbe Camping is run by the last hippies in Germany. At least the older employees are appropriately chilled.

To fit the surroundings, I hung my hammock in the forest.

Bike ride to Hamburg

We make our way along the Elbe for 15 kilometers to the Landungsbrücken in St. Pauli by bike.

Blankenese from the banks of the Elbe. Those who live here want to work - maybe.

The Airbus factory in Finkenwerder.

Hare with overbite - art on the house in Nienstedten.

Modernization in Altona. The Hanseatics either make money or tear down.

Harbor tour

Arriving at the Landungsbrücken, we immediately board a boat for the harbor tour.

The chairs are cold and uncomfortable. But resistant to rain and salt water.

Cranes for loading and unloading container ships. Only containers are handled in Hamburg.

The largest ship in the harbor at the time. 400 meters long! The red color is below the waterline when fully loaded.

One more from the back. Here the hatches on the back look a bit like USB sockets.

Blohm and Voss built this frigate for the BW. Cost: 250 million euros. Behind it a second one in the dry dock. Bug fixing is currently being carried out there.

Cycling through the Speicherstadt

With Katja and me. Graceful light makes us wrinkle-free.

With me, trying to look cool.

Bridge from the Speicherstadt to the city.

Way home

We cruise with our bikes along the high banks of the Elbe to Blankenese.

Michel seen from the interior.

View back to the harbor. In the background on the left is the Köhlbrand Bridge.

Just before 'home', a reward drink on the Elbe.

And that
And that's what our bike navigation tracked
