Observation wheel and botanical gardens

The day was sunny and warm and though I decided to do some sightseeing. The Observation Wheel is situated at the Docklands where you also find shops and an ice skating arena. The tour with the wheel takes roughly 30 minutes where you have the feeling you hardly move. The view is just stunning, an overall view over the city and you have enough time to enjoy it. It's a good possibility to look at the city and admire all different aspects. It's definitely a must if you stay longer in Melbourne.

After this visit I went direction to the botanical gardens, a huge public park which is well trimmed and taken care off. You can spend easily a day in there, relax or have a coffee or else in the tea house which is situated in the center with cakes, beverages or even hot food. You find many ponds and little paths when you walk around. I reckon it's a lot of effort to keep it in shape and nice and clean but I must admit they do a good job. Especially Ferntree Gully, a small rain forest walk where you are taken away into a humid and refreshing ambiance.

The variety of plants, trees and flowers are amazing and nice to look at. You feel like in a different area as the city seems so far when you are in the middle of the park. When you want to get away from the city, you should come here and spend the day whether with friends or on your own.
