May 26th/Day 57: Le Puy-en-Velay - Saint-Privat-d'Alliers

Day 1 of the Via Podiensis from Le Puy-en-Velay to the Pyrenees

Afterwards, we attend the pilgrim's Mass and the pilgrim's blessing in the cathedral.

I say goodbye to Marcel, who led me to Le Puy and whom I have come to know as a friend.

And then the second half of the long journey begins.

It leads us out of Le Puy, following good traditions.

The path is faithfully shown to us.

It is the first day of walking with Arni, and it harmonizes very well.

Masses of French pilgrims are on the way, and in the coming days we will realize it during our search for accommodation.

It is a rather reflective Sunday, Le Puy was just too emotional for me.

In the evening, we sleep in the same room with two Canadians, and Paul helps us find accommodation for the next two days. After three quarters of an hour, the quarters are finally reserved.

It is exactly halfway in the evening: 1498 km walked, 1498 km still to go.
