Southern Norway 2014

WORLD'S END

'The end of the world' Not far from Oslo, a beautiful rocky coastal landscape. Not easy to reach but once you're there it's really beautiful!

RISOR

Risor is a small coastal town on the southern coast of Norway, consisting solely of white wooden houses. Really beautiful! We stay at a campsite nearby and go canoeing through the many small islands on the southern coast.

KRISTIANSAND

Kristiansand is a city at the southern tip of Norway, also directly on the coast. The city is slightly larger and there are some churches and beautiful places to visit. However, it was not a highlight of the trip.

STAVANGER

Stavanger itself is also not a really special city, but it is the perfect starting point for excursions and hikes to both Preikestolen and Kjerag. These hikes were really great and are a must-do on any trip to Southern Norway!

BERGEN

We took the ferry from Stavanger to Bergen, which was really nice because of the many small islands there! Bergen is also a really beautiful city, with the Bryggen waterfront district and the many colorful wooden houses there! More cozy than Oslo and with a lot of charm!

FINSE

In Finse is the highest railway station in Europe, but there is not much else there. Right next to a glacier in the middle of the desolate wilderness of Norway. But still totally beautiful and wild, if you're looking for a bit of tranquility and enjoy hiking, this is the right place!

GEILO

Geilo is a major ski area in Norway in the winter, so there wasn't much going on there in the summer. We hiked a bit through the mountains and lakes there, which was nice but not a highlight of Norway.
