Tag 29: Bye bye Australia!

After waking up early (again) and packing our suitcases in the Jeep, we're heading back to Darwin. We're already feeling very nostalgic as we have to leave this amazing country with its many facets after 4 weeks. It was simply indescribable!

But before we board the flight back this afternoon at 3:45, we still have the morning free. Since we didn't get a chance to swim at the Waterfront in Darwin on the first few days, we decided to do it now. We drive past the harbor to the Darwin Waterfront and want to relax a bit in the wave pool and at the lagoon.

Past the harbor

On the way, we briefly follow a Road Train. Those things are really huge!

The weather gods are in our favor again - we reach the Waterfront at a cozy +34 degrees!

We first go to the wave pool - Wave Lagoon and immediately jump into the cool water. There are even tires and bodyboards everywhere, so you can have fun in the waves. Very cool!

Let's go to the wave pool!

My son wants to try out the water park in the lagoon with his dad, which he was already very excited about on the first day in Darwin. Well then, I'll walk with the two of them to the water park while our daughter relaxes on the sun bed in the wave pool and keeps an eye on our luggage.

After they receive instructions, life jackets, and helmets, the fun begins. First, they have to swim to the water park! Once they arrive, they climb all the obstacles, slide, and jump into the water - and have fun!

At some point, I walk back to the wave pool - it's just too hot, I need to get in the water!
Around noon, we change clothes and have lunch at the Waterfront before we drive to the airport, return our rental car (we didn't cause any damage!), and wait at the gate for our flight.

Once again, the booked "Singapore Airlines" flight turns out to be operated by another airline, namely "Silk Air". But we have no complaints. The seat space is great, the food is delicious, and the flight doesn't last forever. Unfortunately, I also forget to download the Silk Air Entertainment App from the airport's WiFi... but that's okay, a good book will do as well!

Darwin Airport

Before flying back home, we make a stopover in Singapore, where we will stay for 2 nights.

Above the clouds - bye bye Australia!
Welcome to Singapore!

After a smooth flight, we land in Singapore at Changi Airport around 7 PM. We already know this airport from our outbound flight.

We take a taxi (it's really difficult to find a taxi for 4 people with luggage here!) to the hotel we've booked for the next 2 nights.
We're totally exhausted and only manage to go to the hotel buffet and then straight to bed. It was another eventful and long day!
And tomorrow, we'll be sweating... a lot...

For the statistics:
Hotel: Furama Riverfront Hotel
Cost: €156 / night in a double room without breakfast
Distance driven: 130 km
Vehicle: 4x4 Mitsubishi Outlander
Weather: Sunny with 34 degrees!
Conclusion: Bye Bye Australia - it was absolutely fantastic!
