Wild nature at Praia Costinha

The bumpy trail first leads us through a deforested forest that was destroyed by a forest fire. Then at the huge dune by the sea, we find a lonely spot for our bus. It's only a few steps to the miles-long sandy beach. But we have company. A few foxes, sometimes fed by the locals because they lost their habitat due to the forest fire. One fox becomes somewhat curious over time and I lure him with sausages. He comes very close and grabs the sausages and buries them, immediately wanting the next bite. So cute!

We enjoy our time here very much. A wonderful place. Markus explores the area on his moped and gets really dirty but looks very happy doing it.

The few people we encounter here are very friendly and open-minded. The fishermen who were in the sea all night give us two fish in the morning. That was a nice surprise. Markus cleans and divides them expertly and I almost lost my appetite... but when everything was fried and smelled delicious, I ended up eating along.

A very special place that we enjoyed very much.
