What a day full of fun! In the morning we left Springdale and headed east out of the Zion National Park. It presented itself to us from a completely different side. It was as if all the mountains had been dipped in orange - an incredible sight. The rocks were stacked like a cake - we didn't want to leave. But the Bryce Canyon enticed us with great promises - and it kept every single one!! We went straight to the hotel in the middle of the national park. Since we were still a bit tired from yesterday, we didn't want to hike too much today. At the check-in, you could book a horse ride through the canyon. We thought that was ideal, because you don't have to walk and still be in the middle of the canyon. Fully booked for weeks in advance..... But Elena wouldn't be Elena if I gave up. I put us on a waiting list and behold, within 5 minutes we had to be ready. So off to the parking lot, pants off, jeans on, Birkenstock flying -> Nike change, leaving a nice picnic lunch in the car and hopping on the 'hill'! No photo in this world can capture the beauty and impressions. It was truly un, un, unbelievable (I know I use these words often - but this country offers soooo much beauty - I can hardly believe it). So we trotted (Zoe on Wayne and I on Ford) through the valley for 3 hours. Since it is monsoon season, there was an occasional light rain shower, which I found very pleasant and made Zoë shiver. Back at the hotel, Zoë had a hot shower and a nap. Later we'll go to the Sunset Point (more photos....sorry!) and watch the Rodeo where our ranger Cody will perform his stunts :-)
