The bear wandered around the campsite all night long... maybe - we don't know....
We only know that we have to get up quite early if we want to secure a parking spot at Alice Lake Provincial Park. It's Sunday, not a cloud in the sky, and Canadians love outdoor activities. We need to be ahead of them. Our camper always requires so much space, and beautiful spots are notoriously scarce. We made it; by half-past seven, we are in the camper by Alice Lake, with the area almost to ourselves, enjoying breakfast. A dream. The lake is mirror-smooth with only a squirrel jumping about. The first cars are arriving, bikes, SUPs, trail runners—everything is on the move this glorious Sunday in the magnificent rainforest. Oh, could we ride our bikes too? Haven't done that in a while. The big difference: we don't have to, we get to. The trails through the rainforest are simply cool with names like 'fifty shades of green', the trees are massive, and nature seems to have been painted with a neon green highlighter. We ride freely for a few hours through the forest, lounge by the lake in the sun, and even have an early dinner here. Contentment—that's our word of the day.
We lie in bed, satisfied... there are rustling sounds outside... a content bear? No, Peter, the wind, go to sleep now!
