Week 37 - Jake the Hunter

This week we don’t have much to share. On Monday, we dropped the van off at the workshop and what was supposed to be a 2-day job turned into...? Well, good question, the van is still not ready. The workshop had to order some special tools for the Transit and they ordered the wrong size. And they still haven't been able to locate a noise, so they’ll finish that next week. The workshop is really chaotic, which is why they haven’t been able to work on the van continuously.

Fortunately, we stocked up well beforehand and can still get around without a car. The bus to the city costs 3 NZD and the bus stop is a 7-minute walk away.
Franzi has been hiking our local mountain several times a week since the beginning, so she has already covered her 7 kilometers by the morning. Other than that, we’re pretty lazy.
We regularly meet up with Michelle, who is still in Christchurch, as she sold her car this week and will continue traveling next week. She now has a housesit in the neighboring district, so we can see each other without a car.
Julian cut Franzi’s hair. He has no experience, but after 8 months, it was desperately needed, and she was too stingy to pay 80 NZD just for a trim. For a moment, it looked like it might end in a fight, but we managed to steer it back on track :D It’s not perfectly straight, but it’s not a big deal since Franzi rarely wears her hair down and if she does, it has waves/curls. The hair was trimmed to about shoulder length, reducing it by approximately 15 cm. That should keep it long again for a while.
Slowly, we’ve gone through all the games we have and the housesit has. Therefore, Julian rummaged through the closet again and found another game. Based on Franzi's old employer, the game is about supplying cities with electricity.
By the way, Jake has turned out to be a true hunter. So far, the tally is: 4 mice and 4 birds. The last mouse (this morning) was still alive, and Jake chased it around the apartment. We always lure him back out with the prey in his mouth, so there’s no chaos inside.
Next week, we’ll still be at the housesit, and we will definitely enjoy these last days.
