Even this morning we were lively to board and watched as the gigantic ship docked. This time we were not alone in the harbor, the Celebrity also docked here. As we later found out, there would have been 2 more smaller cruisers that could have fit. We immediately noticed the lush green of the island and the many beautiful houses that were partially situated in the hills. Stephan was excited about the landing of a small propeller plane and I about the beautiful landscape.
Together with Schwägi and Danny, we had breakfast and critically observed the gray sky. Today we had a trip planned with Tropical Dreams. Kristin and Bruno greeted us punctually at the harbor. Kristin accompanied us a short way in the old van, which was probably an old transporter. Our first stop was a viewpoint on Morne Fortune, which houses the government house and offered us a view of the harbor and our ship. Although St. Lucia gained independence in 1979, they are still part of the British Commonwealth, which is the reason for Prince Harry's visit a week earlier. The drive to Soufriere took us past local places. Most of the houses are built on stilts and mostly had a garden with overgrowth or just a parking lot. The roads were quite narrow and curved through the green lush landscape. We stopped at a banana plantation where we bought fresh bananas and coconut schnapps. Viviane presented us with the best things from her stand and posed for photos. Another souvenir from Schwägi we picked up on the way through the rainforest. It is a reversible doll in traditional costume. One highlight of the tour were the petits. Unfortunately, it was raining lightly during our photo stop. Shortly afterwards, we crossed the small colorful town of Soufriere at the foot of the famous attraction and drove to the botanical garden. Here, there were not only impressive tropical plants, but also the Diamonds Fall. In 40 minutes we had explored everything and spent half an hour in the harbor town before we headed back. In summary, I can report a positive impression of the island. It is a very attractive island, especially because of its landscape, only the dead animals on the roadside slightly tarnished the impression. Completely exhausted after a winding and adventurous return journey, we arrived back at the ship at 4 p.m. We strengthened ourselves in the buffet restaurant with sandwiches. Franka and I decided to try out the fitness studio and our husbands went to the deck to watch the disembarkation. When we arrived at the gym, we quickly realized that we were not the only ones who had the idea. After a short wait, I was able to work out on the cross trainer for 20 minutes and then strengthen my abs with Schwägi with some floor exercises. In the evening, Gala dinner was on the agenda, which meant we should dress up. We took the opportunity to have our photo taken as well. We had 2 new faces at the table for dinner. Apparently, we had already scared off the others. The two are teachers and provided a lot of conversation, so we left the room last after a very delicious dinner. Exhausted, we said goodbye and quickly went to bed.
