Ayutthaya - cycling through ruins

Ayutthaya is located just 80 km from Bangkok, but it feels like a different world. Small-town, relaxed, and with plenty of space and greenery.

Our hotel has a bicycle rental service, so we can explore the city by bike. Even the little bit of breeze from the ride is a welcome relief in the heat.

There are countless ancient temples from the time when Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam, roughly in the 14th century.

Some of them are magnificent in their radiance and inspire devotion, although not all are meant to be taken so seriously.

We have the top five largest temples on our itinerary and unfortunately we are occasionally interrupted by rain. Nevertheless, the stormy skies and the few visitors give the ruins a special atmosphere.
