Leer
Back in the north of the nation: East Frisia lures with beautiful weather and only 23 degrees with wind. A special day for me – no heat like in BW with headaches and circulation problems. Dreamy!
After breakfast, jackets packed and off to the west of East Frisia. Almost 35 years ago, we were there once and I had no memories left. So off to Leer.
It was a longer drive there – beautiful landscapes and very large herds of black-and-white cows passed by the window. Finding a parking spot was not so easy; some motorhome drivers had just parked in the spots meant only for cars. But their drivers also parked wildly in the marketplace. The entrances and exits were often blocked too. There was still space at the vocational school, and the car was parked there.
It wasn’t far over the marketplace to the harbor with the beautiful shady promenade. An employee of the tourist info gave valuable tips for a round tour around the lovely corners of Leer. Not only was the pedestrian zone quite crowded with people wanting to enjoy the weather and the gastronomy. There weren’t many shops from well-known chains to be found. We strengthened ourselves with a portion of Kibbeling (delicious fish pieces in batter) and the necessary amount of caffeine: a delicious espresso.
After the return trip, we quickly went to Harlesiel for the kite festival right by the campsite. It was a beautiful sight, and the sun did its part to let the day end pleasantly. The wind was still cool and made the waves beautifully splash onto the beach. Quickly snapped a photo of the door to the beach and then back for dinner.
It was a lovely day in a beautiful city, and I would gladly return again.
See you soon!
