No Hike – Rainy Day

The weather frogs from radio and television were right: it was supposed to rain in Lautenberg and the surrounding areas starting at 9:00 AM. The Panorama Tour No. 2 through the vineyards and the forest was planned.

After the very good breakfast at SONNENHOF, the sky “up there” got a bit brighter for a moment, but the darker clouds approached very quickly. So the hike was postponed.

During yesterday’s walk through Lautenbach, I was given a tip about BADER ALM in Hinter-Ibach. The hike is about 7 km and nicely reachable through the woods. But the weather! We drove on the very narrow and winding road towards our destination. For some time we really went up and down through the woods. Without a GPS, we probably wouldn't have found it. There was even a holiday farm named SPRINGHANSENHOF along the way. Definitely very nice for families with children or people who need peace and quiet.

On the way to BADER ALM, all we could see at first was a rock with a large house and a smaller one, hanging over the abyss; possibly a former toilet facility. Unfortunately, the entire village layout was not visible from the parking lot. We could find all the important information on their homepage, including room prices. Unfortunately, everything was booked out until the end of the year, according to one of the operators who was on duty this morning.

A light rain began to fall as we made our way to Oberkirch, which intensified steadily. Water has never scared off northern lights, so we explored the city center with an umbrella and weatherproof jackets. The hems of our pants got a bit wetter than expected. That’s when the café MACH!BAR came in handy.

We got our daily espresso there, competed in a puzzle, and got a bit drier in the process. Now we just had to find the confectionery GMEINER and happily drive home – that was the plan. This did not work out, as the Gmeiner company from Oberkirch had closed down. What a pity.So we drove home without pralines and co.

It was a lovely outing, and we will definitely make the hike another time when the weather is dry. Promised!

See you soon!
