Today we spent the entire day exploring Sydney and spontaneously decided on our itinerary and destinations.

We started at the newly opened fish market of Sydney, which just opened at the end of January 2026.... pictures say more than words.

After that, we went to the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour, where we saw, among other things, a replica of Cook's Endeavour.

From there, we took the bus to The Rocks to have a beer at Sydney's oldest brewery. A few steps later, we arrived at Circular Quay.... with museums, ferries, a view of the Sydney Opera House, and a cruise ship.

We spontaneously decided to take a ferry ride to Taronga Zoo, primarily to admire the Opera from the water. However, there was a surprise, as the Queen Mary 2 happened to be anchored in the bay we passed through.

Back at Circular Quay, we made our way to the Harbour Bridge, which is truly enormous.

We reached the last stop of the day by bus again: For dinner, we went back to the fish market of Sydney, which is actually said to be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

Addendum 1: There are public water fountains throughout the city.

Addendum 2: There are many public, free restrooms in the entire urban area.

Both things we encountered in a similar form in New Zealand. Only in the so-called wonderful Germany is that, for dubious reasons, not possible....
