Passing by Lindeman Island, Whitehaven Beach, and the Whitsundays, we will reach Cairns, in the far north of Queensland on the Coral Sea, Australia, after 2 days at sea.
We are docked at the pier of Chinnaman Creek, at the Esplanade Lagoon.
Cairns, with its coal and gold mines, is one of the major sugarcane producers. The region, with its rainforest and mangroves, is also the gateway to the famous Great Barrier Reef.
The Cairns Museum provides insight into the living conditions of the past.
St. Monica's Cathedral showcases the artistic creations in the region through its very unique stained glass windows.
The green, colorful, opulent, and astonishing nature reveals its full diversity that a rainforest has to offer. During the rainy season (May - Nov.), around 2000mm of rain falls.
Beautiful beaches like Palm Cove invite for swimming. However, due to very dangerous jellyfish and saltwater crocodiles, swimming is only allowed in secured and designated small water areas.
