After 3 days at sea, we arrive in Sydney, Australia.
It doesn't get much better than mooring early in the morning directly at the pier at Circular Quay, with a direct view of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Circular Quay is located in 'The Rocks', the historic center of Sydney, now a city of 5.5 million in the state of New South Wales, right on the Tasman Sea.
A stroll through part of the Royal Botanic Garden takes us directly to Sydney's iconic landmark, the Opera House. After many interruptions due to construction and financial issues, the Opera House opened in 1973 and was awarded the Pritzker Prize for Architecture early on, as well as being designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Built in the Brutalist style as a so-called spherical solution, meaning if the sails were put together, they would form a sphere 150m in diameter, made with only 14 different concrete elements.
The city has many other highlights, including the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Queen Victoria Building alongside modern architecture, Bondi Beach, and much more.
