The chain of islands off the coast of North Carolina is truly a special place. In some areas, it's less than 200 meters from one beach to the other.
Not exactly safe during tornadoes... there are carefully planned evacuation plans here.
The area is a mecca for anglers, kite surfers, and wave riders, and of course, seafood lovers.
When we leave here on Wednesday, we will take 2 ferries, as not all the islands are connected by bridges.
