No matter how hard you try, the city just doesn't get any prettier. A jumbled mix of decaying industrial buildings, unfinished high-rise skeletons, socialist grand buildings, concrete blocks, yurts, and a few glass-fiber bank buildings.
The highlight was visiting the largest llama temple here with real monks during their prayer work. A visit to a cashmere factory was not to be missed. Compared to Germany, you could make good bargains. They can't complain about the sales from our group.
The city center with its central Sükhbaatar Square didn't change anything: Ulan Bator is ugly.
