First Impressions of Tokyo

On Sunday we took the ICE train early in the morning from Bochum to Frankfurt without any incidents. Although there was a funny incident on the train. We got warm drinks at the onboard bistro and drank them at the standing table. I had some leftover coffee in my cup, and I threw it into a trash bin. As we stood at the standing table, I noticed a brown puddle on the floor out of the corner of my eye. The coffee had somehow spilled out of the bin; I just thought, oh no... And since it was still early, I didn't want to clean it up, so we kicked it into high gear and sprinted to our compartment, of course with a mega guilty conscience... grin.

After checking in at Frankfurt Airport, we enjoyed the airport atmosphere. Our flight took off with about a 20-minute delay. The flight was very pleasant, without turbulence.

The airport in Tokyo is enormous, and the staff there is very friendly, but also extremely hectic. The words 'Paaaaspooooort' and 'Code' were shouted in turns, accompanied by wild hand gestures. We handled all the checks, including those from a small sniffer dog, quite well.

In the arrival hall, we first went to the information desk to ask a few questions. In the end, I thanked the man in Japanese. He was so thrilled that he asked me to teach him two words in German.

From the airport, we took a shuttle bus to our hotel. The hotel is located a bit outside in Odaiba. We spent the afternoon exploring a lot, and what can I say, there is so much to see. You really don't know where to look first. We were lucky with the cherry blossoms, and many flowers are blooming here. The small parks in our neighborhood are very well-kept and beautifully landscaped.

In the evening, we walked in the opposite direction and looked at all the attractions in their illuminated state. It was truly gigantic, especially a huge robot. I just didn't think the show was that great. I thought it was going to rap, but no, the two little ears suddenly turned into a unicorn, and a kneecap popped open, and that was it.
