Day 9 (March 15, 2023)
We spontaneously decided to stay in Ao Nang for one more day, as the surrounding area of Krabi had a lot to offer. So we rented a scooter for the day. The first stop was the Tiger Cave Temple, a Buddhist temple located to the north-northeast of Ao Nang. Once we reached the mountain, there were still 1260 steps between us and the temple. This time, the ascent was also a challenge for us. However, we still managed better than most others.
The view from the temple over the surrounding hilly landscape compensated for the efforts. Only a bit of fog obscured the view of the surrounding mountains. The descent was much more relaxed, although still tiring. That was our workout for the day.
Our next destination was the Emerald Pools, which were located a bit further inland. After a short hour's drive with the scooter, we arrived at the lake area. It impressed us with its crystal-clear, turquoise water and an idyllic landscape. Unfortunately, the place also attracted many other tourists, so it was quite crowded. Especially annoying was a group of Germans who were shouting meaninglessly and disturbing the whole forest. We tried to avoid them as much as possible. In the afternoon, we made our way back to the hotel.
There was a weekly market with lots of street food and other stalls in a nearby street. We tried various small dishes and spent some time there before going back to the hotel.
Ann-So was pretty exhausted from the day and enjoyed a relaxing evening in our room.
Erik still wanted to go to the beach and met up with Vincent and his friend Giovanni for a few rounds of billiards, table tennis, and beer.
That concludes day 9 of our trip.
