Peace, openness, and bird song – Days on Monte Argentario
Since yesterday, we have been guests at Ciro Park in La Costa di Feniglia – a campsite for around 80 motorhomes. Currently, there are only five vehicles here, ours included

After inspecting our new surroundings yesterday and encountering a wild boar, Icke was unstoppable today: we had to visit the Tombola di Feniglia Nature Reserve, one of the two peninsulas that separate the Monte Argentario Peninsula from the Tyrrhenian Sea.
It is about seven kilometers long and nearly one kilometer wide. There is not a single café, no campsite, and hardly any signs of modern civilization. Instead, there is a small two-meter-deep lagoon with many tiny islands, a dense pine forest, and on the other side, a natural beach that seems to stretch endlessly in a curve.
Access to the lagoon is restricted – for conservation reasons. Small hides for birdwatchers have been built at irregular intervals, otherwise, nature is allowed to unfold here undisturbed – creating a true Mediterranean jungle.
The beach on the sea side is perfect for everyone who enjoys the sea without any services. There are no drinks for sale and no umbrellas to rent. However, you can enjoy endless, romantic beach walks and collect driftwood that no one clears away. Robinson Crusoe would have loved it here...
It was a beautiful afternoon – also, or perhaps precisely because, Icke's wild boar was nowhere to be seen. A confrontation with Emmi is certainly no walk in the park.
Tomorrow we plan to saddle our bikes and head to Orbetello – to the weekly market, which is the lively heart of the small lagoon town.
