Cusco, Puno and the way to Bolivia,

Published: 23.10.2016

In Cusco we spend a few wonderful days. We sleep in a hostel, 'casita de Nelly'! Many other artisans live here. About 20 people and we share rooms, a bathroom, and a toilet and it works;-) Two Argentinian guys are our friends right away. We spend the days playing ball in the streets, singing, doing a little acrobatics, and of course, celebrating (yummy kaña schnapps). The days go by so fast and it's getting really tight, our visa is almost over. That's why we have to travel south now...with the truck (with Jonny, a dreamily funny, believer in ghosts, very beautiful singing Peruvian truck driver).

In Puno, we had a very pleasant time. We stayed with a Couchsurfer. Gabriel, a guy from Mödling, who is currently volunteering in Puno. We felt like we were in a flat share 😉 Unfortunately, Iris was a bit sick and we spent a lot of time in the apartment. It rained heavily every day in the late afternoon and once we even saw a huge rainbow. On our second evening, we had a cabin party. We cooked Kaiserschmarrn with apple compote, tea with rum, and listened to music by Hubert von Goisern. Gabriel's two Peruvian friends and we enjoyed the atmosphere! There's not much to see in Puno, except for a big market on the weekend where you can find everything from fruit and vegetables to clothing and all kinds of second-hand stuff! We planned for a night or two, after 5 nights we actually set off towards Bolivia. From Puno, two young military guys took us, they had a sports car and we drove as fast as we've never done on our trip. We waited for ages at the place where we had to get off...then we decided to continue on foot and later on we went to the border and to Copacabana by micros. We reached Copacabana in the evening. From the main square, Ernst, a 56-year-old man from Vorarlberg who lives together with 7 pigeons, and dreams of a flying ship, picked us up on his motorbike. The ride to the house was a challenge for our thighs. The three of us on a dirt jumper with two huge backpacks and our small bags. Every second I thought I would slide off the back and wished very firmly that we would be there soon. Phew, we survived! Ernst only has a small hut in real life, which he shares with his pigeons. But next to it is a big house where Daniel lives, and we can sleep here too. Suddenly we are volunteers here, cooking for the guys and playing housewives, which is really nice for a change 🙂 we have a beautiful big house with many colorful people again! We don't know exactly how this happened to us again - something guides us.
