A Saturday in Seville

Published: 12.12.2021

The neighborhood of Montequinto seems to be a quiet place to park my home. There is also a Couchsurfer living here whom I am already in contact with. Through Google, I see that there should also be a swimming pool here, as I long for nothing more than a shower. When I arrive there, I realize that unfortunately it is not open. :( Manuel from CS, whom I could possibly shower with, is currently not home. And so today I book my first self-paid accommodation of this trip through Airbnb.

The host Jésus and his wife Consuelo (a strange name for a woman, right...?) welcome me to their spacious apartment in the highly secure building complex. Jésus starts giving me tips on Seville, which I listen to, but I realize that I am not as receptive yet and would like to jump in the shower right away. :-D After getting to know each other, I enjoy the warm shower and then fall into deep gratitude in my cozy double bed.

The next day I start slowly and then take the metro to Seville in the early afternoon. On foot, I explore the Mercado de Tirana, stop by a vegan restaurant, and let myself be carried away by the colorful hustle and bustle to the impressive Plaza de España.

In the afternoon, I join a Free Walking Tour. I already lose the group during a toilet break at the beginning. I'm not so sad about it, because I realized that I am not fit enough to follow the historical events in the midst of the city hustle and bustle for 2 hours in Spanish.

So I explore the Christmas-lit city on my own in the evening twilight and later meet up with two Couchsurfers in a wine bar. I return to Montequinto around midnight, Consuelo was already worried about me. Even in a paid accommodation like Airbnb, one is not completely independent...
