Listening to the sound of the sea

Published: 29.01.2022

The 3 days of yoga have led me to continue my vanlife journey and discover the places along the coast towards Malaga. The weather alone is reason enough to spend time here. To let the impressions and experiences of the yoga retreat sink in, I'm stopping in Salobrena again - I already know the place from my time of illness after my return from Germany. This time I'm parking in a different parking lot, which later turns out to be the best parking spot I've had in Spain so far - probably also due to the encounters of these days.

Right by the sea, with a view of the Castillo de Salobrena and the sound of the sea in my ears, I spend the first night.

The next day I get two new neighbors. Mike, an Italian who traveled around Asia for the past 3 years and is now touring Portugal and Spain in a camper. Suddenly, an older man joins us in conversation. Friedel from Germany, who at 79 enjoys life in his minivan. Later, he swims leisurely in the cold sea and lasts longer than me.

I'm happy that today my solar shower is finally useful. :-) The sun was enough to heat up the water in the black bag on the windshield, so I even have a warm shower after swimming :-)

In the evening, the three of us sit by the sea for dinner and philosophize about life.

The next day, Friedel invites me for lunch. We randomly find a nice restaurant with a sunny spot and I have my very first paella since I've been in Spain. It was about time :-D

It's a bit strange to eat crabs.. I don't think I've ever done that before.

The conversations with Friedel are very inspiring and reinforce my belief that a positive attitude towards life is the essential essence for a satisfied and happy life.
