The further north you go in Ghana, the further away you get from civilization. The buildings become more primitive and the monuments present themselves in a dilapidated state. Decayed mosques and decayed outbuildings. It can be dangerous to enter some of these places. Nevertheless, each mosque has its guardians. If you want to enter such a structure, it is unavoidable to have a chat with the "guards" in order to get admission. They are friendly and happy about the change. It has happened before that children came to us to touch us. They had never seen a white person before. The majority of visitors who get lost in the north are Americans, descendants of slaves who visited their homeland.
