Today we visit Victoria Market. Beautiful old market halls offering meat, vegetables, fruits, cheese, clothing, tourist stuff, and everything you can imagine. So nice to look at, but it also makes you thirsty. Luckily, there is also a Craft Beer Station. Brody and his girlfriend Claudia have also joined us again. Today it is over 30 degrees and sunny. Quite hot, too warm to walk around outside. Luckily, there is a museum, Victoria Art Gallery, with various exhibitions, from antique to modern and cool. After so much art, we returned to the hotel to prepare for the night.
In the Polish quarter, we had reserved a table at a Polish restaurant, Tipsy Village. It is a small, fine restaurant with delicious, variously filled pierogis and other dishes. Then we went to the river to find a spot for the fireworks. Both river banks were already well-filled with people, but not too crowded. There is generally a ban on alcohol on the two river banks, well, some surely packed a bottle or two in their picnic baskets or bags and are drinking from them unnoticed.
Waiting makes you thirsty, we can get a drink at the casino. And now it's time for the fireworks.
Now the banks are very crowded. We're moving towards a bridge, there are already many people standing here too.
But at the tram stop in the middle of the bridge, there is still room and we have to take the tram back to the hotel anyway. So a good spot!
Three, two, one...... Welcome 2023! What a fireworks display!!! Very beautiful, what a way to start the year!
Happy New Year to all of you!!!! What a strange feeling to be ahead in time and in Germany it's only 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
Good decision to wait at the tram stop, the tram is ours and we make our way back to the hotel. It takes a bit longer, as only specific routes are served and we have to take a small detour.
