From the Loire to the Alps

Published: 10.06.2019

Since my last post, I have experienced and seen a lot.

For the first time, I was in Paris. The city of love.

Through a wwoofing place, I met a friend there, where I could also sleep and who showed me a bit of his Paris. For example, we walked along an old ring railway line. It was nice to get to know Paris without the tourist madness.

A day later, my mother and aunt arrived. We then visited the famous attractions for 1.5 days.

On Saturday, we went to Tours, on the Loire, where our bike tour was supposed to start on Sunday morning. In total, we had 14 castles, 330 km, and 6 days ahead of us. We cycled along the Loir, the Cher, the Indre, and the Venant. Except for 2 days, we actually had good weather. The last, and also the longest day, was chosen as the only hot day.

Here is a small selection of pictures from this great time.

After the two, after a few hardships in Paris, were sitting on their train home, it was time for me to explore Paris again. On Sunday, we visited 2 museums, a few churches, and the Arc de Triomphe. After this day, I was pretty exhausted. In Paris, I felt like I had walked more kilometers switching from metro to metro than I had traveled on the surface.

Last Monday, I went to my next wwoofing hosts, Stéphanie and Zoé, in Motz in the Alps. They grow a lot of vegetables and have quite a few bees and chickens. The cultivated vegetables, eggs, honey, and other honey products are sold in local shops or at markets. That meant weeding again, but with a great view and mostly sunny weather. We also planted a lot of onions and celery.

I am now a little 'responsible' for the chickens. Every day, I collect the eggs and close the coop in the evenings.

Last weekend, I spontaneously received a visit from two friends from Thuringia. We went to Annecy on a sunny Saturday, the largest city in the area.

Thanks again to all the visitors of the last 2 weeks. It was wonderful days with you.
