Tasting

Published: 19.08.2026

Mileage: unchanged

When we are at a vineyard, we couldn't possibly leave without having participated in a tasting - a Dégustation. Last night, we decided to go for the tasting with lunch, which included a meal, followed by a guided tour of the wine cellars and vines.

Just before 12:30 PM, we gathered at the reception. We assembled our three-course menu, and then the tasting began. First, there was the aperitif, which we already knew from the previous evening, followed by a tour through the entire range of the winery. By the time the main course was served, we had already finished our first bottle of water, having set off without breakfast to leave enough room for the entire menu. We did not miss the chance to try a glass of the Superior wine as well. Thus, we spent two and a half hours enjoying very good food and wine. By the time we finished with dessert around three o'clock, each of us had drunk at least a liter of wine. The tour of the vineyards took place in good 30-degree weather under the shade of the trees on a cozy bench. The wine cellar was, of course, pleasantly cool. When we were invited for the aperitif at 5:30 PM by Fabienne for the third time that day, we could hardly decline.

So we took a short break and then returned to the restaurant just in time for the aperitif.

The group this evening was a bit larger and just as international. This time, even three of our compatriots were present, who stopped here on their way back from the solar eclipse in Spain. We had the best conversations with the two Irish people at the table who were sitting right next to us.

After the second Dégustation of the day was over, we joined Gary and played a bit when we were invited by our neighbors, the two Irishmen, to sit together. By chance, we had the parking spots right next to each other. So we sat there until dark with Ger and Alina from County Kilkenny between the two Hymer vehicles, Lilly(1999) and Gary(1988), discussing our respective travels, cars, and Honda motorcycles.
