This morning we started our journey outside Switzerland in Germany. After a joint breakfast, we filled up our water supplies at a local fountain and set off to Zurich. However, our dwindling food supplies posed a minor problem. This was caused by the closed shops in Switzerland due to it being Sunday. So, we had to do without our traditional morning shopping and continued our journey without certainty of lunch or dinner. One member aptly labeled the day: "I would call today the day of hunger."
The journey to Zurich was made more interesting by Swiss police, who were likely randomly checking foreigners. The gentlemen were kind, so after a quick check, they returned our documents, allowing us to continue our pilgrimage through Switzerland. However, one member of our team faced considerable difficulty walking around Zurich due to a stiff neck he suffered during an unexpected battle with a fly. In the city, we visited St. Peter's Church, which boasts the largest clock face on a church tower in Europe, with a diameter of over 8 meters. We then continued to the opera house and Lake Zurich. During our city walk, we couldn't help but notice the abundance of lavish stores with luxury brands we were passing by. The vehicle fleet on the streets of Zurich also reflected this, where it wasn't very common to see Hyundai or Toyota cars.
After a short walking tour of the city, we traveled further to Liechtenstein, specifically to the capital city of Vaduz. The winding roads through the mountains made us a bit nostalgic for the flat landscapes of the Netherlands and Belgium. On the other hand, we were rewarded with breathtaking mountain panoramas that accompanied us until we descended into Vaduz. Here, we didn't linger long and agreed that just seeing the center, where we parked, was sufficient. Only a few crew members spent some francs on souvenirs and local delicacies. After a brief stay in Liechtenstein, our journey took us through Austria, where we attacked a local McDonald's as a substitute for lunch, and then on to Germany. Here, we camped near the town of Füssen. Those who still had some energy went for a run, and then we went swimming together in a local lake. Overall, we visited 4 countries that day: Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Austria. For dinner, we finished off the leftovers and made a goulash soup. Unusually, our evening wasn't accompanied by watching football together, so we went to bed a bit earlier.
