Ben and I rented a car on Sunday (02.12.2018) and drove to Port Douglas. My godmother, along with friends and family, were on vacation there at the time, so we spent 2 days with them. On the way to Port Douglas, we drove along many beautiful beaches, which we used for many photos. When we finally arrived in Port Douglas, we were warmly greeted and then cooled off in the pool. We also took a crocodile boat tour that day, but unfortunately, we didn't see any crocodiles. However, the boat tour itself was also very nice. After a picnic on the beach with a view of the sunset, we all drove to a nearby restaurant. It was a beautiful day that we really enjoyed.
The next day, Ben and I took a trip to Cape Tribulation. In the middle of the rainforest, we learned a lot about the flora and fauna. We visited a Discovery Center, walked along the boardwalks through the rainforest, and enjoyed the panoramic view of the ocean from the beaches. The day was also very beautiful and eventful. When we were back in Port Douglas, we first had some snacks on the beach with everyone and then we had steaks. Very delicious!
Then on Tuesday, it was time to say goodbye. It was very nice that we were able to spend two nights there. We really enjoyed them. Thanks again to Ulrike, Julie, Flizzi, Elton, Christian, and Grantley. After we left, we went to Mossman Gorge. This is a mountain range that offers several swimming spots through the Mossman River. The water is very clean and attracts many visitors to swim daily. Ben and I first meandered through the rainforest. It was a signposted, but very uneven path. We felt like we were in the wilderness. The mighty and ancient trees were particularly remarkable. We were amazed every time. Then we cooled off in the water. However, it was definitely too cold for my taste. After Mossman Gorge, we took the inland route back to Cairns. Occasionally, we stopped at a farm and looked around. The road looked like we were in the middle of the Outback. It went straight for a long time, and we were glad to be able to stop occasionally. We treated ourselves to ice cream at an ice cream factory. It was delicious!
Then we visited the Barron Falls. It looked gigantic. Once again, we were deeply impressed by nature. When we arrived in Cairns, we had dinner and then fell asleep tired.
