Tel Aviv
I was right in the middle of my exciting life. Living in Tel Aviv, working in a hostel, and having a side job as a nanny.
It seemed like everything was going according to plan.
Until, on a Wednesday morning, May 11th, 2016, I found myself at the gynecologist's office again. At first, everything seemed normal.
Until I mentioned why I was here...
Then everything happened very fast. After a short examination and a long counseling session, I was discharged. I closed the door behind me and stepped out into the scorching midday heat.
Automatically, I placed both of my hands on my belly. Yes, it's true. I am pregnant.
From solo traveler to mommy traveler
1 year later, on a Thursday, May 11th, 2017, I sit in the shade on the side of the road in Pai, Thailand, and drink ice coffee.
My baby, who is now four months old, on my lap.
We comfortably watch the passersby, talk here and there with fellow travelers, and then return to our bungalow for a nap. Everything is normal and yet somehow different.
How do we get to Pai?
I already knew the place from last year. And where could you have a better start than in the sweet, idyllic town in the north of Thailand.
I booked the ticket in March. In April, we set off.
Time to leave the nest.
