3rd Stage Jena-Rudolstadt

After a short night at the Burgau community center, we started our 3rd stage on the Saale Cycle Path at 8:00 AM. At just under 49km, this stage was shorter than the first two, but it was much more demanding.

The climb to Leuchtenburg, with slopes of 13% - 16%, was a true challenge. Our bicycle, loaded with an average of three heavy and full bags, could only be pushed over the rough terrain. Even pushing was nearly impossible due to the added weight of the bike. 🥵 But we all managed to conquer it anyway. 💪

Our journey continued uphill and downhill, passing the confluence of the Saale and Orla rivers, expansive fields of cornflowers, and numerous castles and palaces.

Upon arriving in Rudolstadt, we settled into our accommodation and admired the church next door.
