Before this picturesque backdrop, we almost forget to eat our muesli in the morning...
On our route down the West Coast today, we make a short stop at a former gold mining town and have fun (see photos). Shortly after noon, we arrive at Franz Josef Glacier. To our surprise, the campsite is located in the middle of the rainforest! From here, we drive to Lake Matheson and 'walk' (hop and run) around the lake. For once, the weather is not optimal and no reflections are visible in the lake and mountain peaks, for example from Mount Cook.
This is followed by a delicious dinner and a cozy evening. The clouds clear and we can see the glacier from the camper behind the palm trees.
