We set off early in the morning for the Ngorongoro Crater. We could grab a muffin or a chocolate roll on the go and were in the car by 6:00 am. Then we drove up the crater rim on an adventurous gravel road and saw the first hippos and lions at 7:30 am.
After four lionesses were still a bit lazy for the buffalo hunt, we could observe two lionesses with a little perseverance sneaking up on a herd of zebras and gazelles from two sides, but they didn't catch them in the end.
Then, in the next grassy area at some distance, we actually saw two rhinoceroses 🦏, one big and one small. That was already a highlight.
Afterwards, hyenas, jackals... followed.
After an exciting day on safari, we then drove past Maasai villages to the Olduvai Camp, which was located on a hill in the otherwise flat landscape. After setting up our tents ⛺️, we climbed onto the rocks for the sunset 🌅, where we were already expected with popcorn and cold drinks. On the way, we almost lost Leo and Lotte, who had already disappeared in the Maasai village after following a herd of goats...
