I was just in work mode, including a little trip to Lake Constance, to fill up my holiday fund. The appointment ended around 3:30 p.m., so I had about 5 1/2 hours to cover the almost 500 km. A piece of Austria, through Switzerland, through the Milan area, down to Liguria. Google predicted an arrival time of 9:14 p.m. The ferry leaves at 10:30 p.m. 'That's no problem' BUT: Check-in with Moby is at least 90 minutes in advance, so 9:00 p.m. Therefore, 14 minutes late for the official check-in. 'I guess I won't have any breaks and have to pee in a bottle while driving. No, I won't...'. So my motto was to drive quickly, limit necessary breaks to the essentials, and hope that the Italians don't take the time so seriously - continuation see below...

Two days ago, on the last evening in Feldkirch, I fired up the grill that was 'within reach' a few meters from the bus. I was allowed to take a few coals from the pre-griller and supplement them with a nice piece of wood.

With a suitable cold drink... because somehow I also exported myself:

I haven't been to Switzerland in a long time and the drive took me over the Bernadino Pass. The route through Switzerland is incredibly impressive, this ruggedness, exposure, and the victorious weather, very impressive!

I reached Porto di Genova at 9:20 p.m., so 20 minutes late! It was probably my luck that on this day hardly anyone wanted to go to Corsica. I cannot explain it otherwise, as there were no inquiries and after about 10 minutes of waiting, I was allowed to drive & park in the assigned spot below deck.

Let's get started:

The dawn around 6:50 a.m., about 1 hour before arrival in Bastia:

... and then it was over, this island. 'Wow, it's beautiful here!' was my first thought. I would have loved to jump on the bike and explore the cape of Corsica today, but my knee doesn't allow any movement of >45°. So I'm doing everything to get fit again quickly.

After arrival, I visited the first pharmacy and then bought a few little things to head to the peaceful Casaiola campsite at Cape Corsica. There was pizza from the local pizzeria, several glasses of red wine, and a travel report that will hopefully be worth reading for you.
See you tomorrow...!
