Ducal Castle

The bus took us to the city center, and from here, it’s uphill to the Ducal Castle. Irmi pays the entrance fee and off we go. We reach the grand staircase via a drawbridge. Here, we notice a medieval carriage. At the entrance to the living area stands a beautiful chest that Marianne would love to have. Irmi became the shooting queen this year and immediately found the matching outfit. A bit further, we arrive at the Mirror Hall; a murmur is heard. Everyone finds this room exquisite, so elegant, simply wonderful. Next is the writing room. Following that, we are greeted by a beautifully set table. The bedrooms are equipped with a canopy bed and a cradle. We continue on. Through a large door, a tower from the year 1073 comes into view. A spiral staircase leads us to enchanting wall and ceiling frescoes and paintings by the artist Girolamo Varni. The view from the tower is gigantic; we can even see our campsite in the woods. One floor down, there is a super nice kitchen that inspired our cook right away. The stoker is responsible for the modern heating system but still has time to flirt with Christl. Then we go further down to the dungeon, where an inmate, a monk who has abused a girl, is still imprisoned. We finish our tour of the castle and head back to the entrance area. The moat, which has never held water, is designed like a park. A very beautiful ambiance; everyone agrees... the castle is fantastically renovated and well worth seeing.
