16.02.18 Start of my world trip -1 stop Bangkok

Published: 17.02.2018

Hello
Together 😁,

my family and friends already know me, but for all those who might come across this and want to follow me and my journey, I would like to introduce myself briefly: My name is Steffi, I am 30 years old and I come from near Leipzig. I quit my job and now I am about to go on a world trip. With this, I want to fulfill my dream, which I have been loving to travel more and more in the past few years.❤🛫🌏❤

My first travel destination is Thailand. 😊 The country is good for beginners as backpackers and since I have already been a backpacker here once (Bangkok-Koh Tao- Koh Phangan-Koh Samui), I will start here again for an easier start.

Because some of my friends and acquaintances asked me if I will write a blog during my world trip, I decided to create one for you, to gradually share my experiences / adventures / information with you and above all, to let you be part of my journey. :)

Right now, I am sitting on the plane from Cologne to Bangkok and have some time to write a few lines for you, because the adventure has already begun, even though I haven't even arrived in Bangkok yet. 🙈😀

Some of my friends sometimes call me *Chaos Queen* and unfortunately, that's not completely unfounded. 🤣

Well,^^. I don't even know where to start. 😅🙈

Arriving at the airport in Leipzig with mixed feelings (joy and sadness as well as great respect for what lies ahead), going through the customs control, quickly buying a cola from the bookstore, and then quickly running to the boarding gate, which had already started the final call, I was luckily already in the first plane on time.

Barely arrived in Cologne, where my connecting flight to Bangkok was supposed to continue, I received a message from my mom. 🙈

The Federal Police had called my parents. Documents were found in the bookstore that belong to me. I immediately felt sick and thought, what a great start, I want to go back. 😅

While quickly paying for my cola, I unpacked my vaccination record and my specially requested international driver's license and didn't put them back in my bag. 😓 But thanks to my dear parents, the documents will be picked up by them and sent to me by DHL as soon as I know where I will have a longer stay and can give them the address. 🙈

Furthermore, upon arrival in Cologne, I was informed that my onward flight to Bangkok is delayed.
Scheduled departure: 10:45 a.m.
New departure: 2:50 p.m.
(We actually left at 3:10 p.m.)
Well, I thought, everything is going wonderfully again. 😂

BUT here is my tip for all those who don't know it yet or haven't needed it yet.

I am now flying to Bangkok for FREE. 😀😁 YES, you read that right. 😎

According to the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation, flights with a minimum of 3 hours delay (the arrival time must always be considered) for short, medium and long haul
are entitled to compensation claims that can be claimed by oneself or through so-called online service providers. (The advantage here is that you don't have to worry about anything and you receive an immediate transfer of 70%. (The respective service provider keeps 30% commission) Since my distance is more than 3,500 km and I have a delay of more than 3 hours, I am entitled to 600 euros. It doesn't matter if my flight was cheaper or not. Another requirement is that the airline is headquartered in Europe and there are no external influences - such as bad weather. Well if that doesn't make up for some of the bad start to my day. 😁

Below I will share a link with all of you, where you can read everything again about the conditions under which you are entitled to compensation for damages from the airlines:

PS. You can even claim compensation for damages up to 3 years RETROSPECTIVELY!!!👌👌👌

Now I still have 7.5 hours of flight ahead of me. I will now try to get some sleep so that I won't be so tired when I arrive in Bangkok tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. 🙈

I hope you liked my first post. I will try to keep you updated as best as I can.🤗

Yours, Steffi 😘
