San Clemente del Tuyú (8-12 Oct.)

Published: 16.10.2021

4 nights on the Atlantic coast in San Clemente del Tuyú:

This weekend we embarked on a slightly longer trip to San Clemente del Tuyú. Since Friday and Monday were holidays here, we took advantage of this time. The drive is usually about 4 hours, but on the way there it was much longer due to traffic - 6 hours :(
Our short vacation didn't go completely smoothly either. On the first evening, we went to a fish restaurant and afterward Mia felt really sick and had to throw up, so Torben had to do a lot of cleaning up since he was sharing a double room with Mia and I was with Lea and Ida. Unfortunately, it continued the next day as well, but we tried to make the best of it and see everything we could.
At Mundo Marino, a protection center and a breeding station for marine mammals, Mia was able to witness the dolphin show and the pet show. However, Mia felt sick again during the seal show, so it was back to the toilet bowl...

The next day, we drove around a bit and visited smaller villages along the beach, and on the last day, we went to the Termas Marinas. The road there scared us a bit and probably cost us our shock absorbers because it was a dirt road and it was quite bumpy. The pools in the spa were around 37-39 degrees Celsius and had a lot of salt, which Mia and Ida didn't enjoy because they said it burned their skin. Due to the high salt content, it was almost impossible to sink - almost like the Dead Sea.
Lea loved it, but because of the other two, we left after about 2 hours and it got quite crowded. We removed the dried salt from our skin (unfortunately, there were no showers there anymore, as they were converted into cabins...?) and then took a walk around the area, where there is also a significant lighthouse.
To end the trip, we had dinner at a restaurant on the premises, which surprisingly was very delicious! On Tuesday, we drove back to Buenos Aires and stopped to buy medialunas at Atalaya along the way. It's quite well-known here and there were also many people in line. We didn't quite understand the hype, but now we've seen it...
From Wednesday, it was back to the normal school routine :)
